Fundstücke (german, “found objects”, 2017)

A summer, revisiting my home town, and all its oddities.

Faces (2014-2016)

Our Side of the Mountain (2014)

A series of images capturing the everyday live of Syrian refugees in their temporary homes in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon in December 2014. Even before the Syrian civil war (2011-ongoing), seasonal workers would come to work within the flourishing agricultural industry in the Bekaa Valley, right on the boarder to Syria. After the outbreak of the war which made their home towns critically unsafe, many workers decided to bring their family along with them to Lebanon and seasonal camps turned into more permanent communities. It is a difficult, precious existence, exposed to food shortage, rough weather conditions, and and an overall lack of resources. Additionally, the emotional uncertainty of a future in a conflict-worn country and the separation from friends and family weighed heavily on the community.
